What Courses Do We Offer?

TEFL Training

Weci provides Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Training. We offer a 4 week intensive 120-hour TEFL certification, which is suitable for anyone of any age who has at a minimum graduated high school, and does not require you to be a native English speaker.

The second course is a Special Thai Project that includes the 4 week intensive 120-hour TEFL certification but is offered conjunction with a guaranteed 4 month English teaching contract following completion of the course.

The requirements for the SPECIAL THAI PROJECT include a bachelor degree, criminal clearance certificate, and you must be a native English speaker.

Applicants wanting to join this programme who do not have degrees are welcome but no guaranteed job.

 

Course Syllabus Outline

  • Teaching Practice – we offer live classroom experience in the local schools and Universities as well as the Temples in the area
  • Foreign Language Experience.

The trainees receive training in Thai language to reflect on the experience of being a learner, and how this might direct their own teaching. Our teachers are Thai nationals and will teach the basics in Thai language and a Thai cultural orientation

  • Language Awareness
    • Grammar. Covers word classes, simple sentence elements, complex sentences and clauses, verb time and tense, aspect and conditionals and modals and phrasals
    • Phonology. Covers phonemics, word stress and intonation, sentence stress and intonation,
  • Teaching Techniques.

All trainees must develop materials used during the teaching practice. The materials may include visuals, realia, audio or video tape, cue cards and class handouts, but may not be photocopied from published sources. Trainees are required to adapt from commercial sources, or develop original materials.

The teaching practice is continually assessed and successful trainees will receive an official certificate showing completion of the course and overall grade

Assessment & Grading

The theoretical components of the TEFL course will be continually assessed. You will be set tasks through out your course which are submitted for assessments by your tutors. These tasks will be graded and returned with comments and guidance for your development and includes the assessment of the material compilation of each applicant

Offered to native and non native speaking students wishing to do TEFL

Applicants must be over 18 years of age and have completed the final high school year. Proof of education required.

20 hour Culture course will be made available to all students attending
